Hospital Hosts Presentation on Aging and Life Loss

PALM COAST, Fla., June 13, 2016 On June 1, Florida Hospital Flagler oncology social worker Deborah Duvall spoke to members of the Registered Professional Nurses of Flagler County.

Her presentation, called Coping with Aging and Life Losses, discussed the physical, emotional and spiritual changes that people experience as they age, as well as support systems to help ease the transitions that come with aging. She also talked about the positive aspects of aging, like learning and experiencing new things.

She approached the topic of life losses, whether it is the loss of another person or the loss of an experience. This led into a discussion about grief, dealing with it, and what to expect.

Each day gives you the ability to learn something new, said Duvall, giving a positive perspective on the topic. Whether it is through reading, listening to others, taking a class, or learning to use new technology, life continues with learning.
