PALM COAST, Fla., November 20, 2017 The AdventHealth Flagler Foundation donated $15,000 to the Flagler County Free Clinic to support the clinics diabetes services.
The funds were raised during the AdventHealth Flagler Foundations eighth-annual Moonlit Gala, held Feb. 12, at the Club at Hammock Beach.
Nearly 300 guests helped the hospital raise funds for the Flagler County Free Clinic which serves residents who do not have health insurance and are 200 percent or more below the federal poverty level.
This check represents the fruits of a tremendous outpouring of volunteer spirit and hard work that went into the AdventHealth Flagler Foundations Moonlit Gala this year, said Dr. Stephen Bickel, Flagler County Free Clinic board president. We are so thankful for the AdventHealth Flagler Foundations continued support. This gift will directly impact our patients who suffer with diabetes.
The donation will help the Flagler County Free Clinic purchase supplies for diabetic patients including insulin and blood glucose test strips.
The Flagler County Free Clinic provides an essential access point for primary care services to our neighbors in need. It is this access to care that can help manage chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiac disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), said Dr. Ron Jimenez, AdventHealth Flagler CEO. By managing these conditions in the Flagler County Free Clinic, residents in-need can help take care of the small problems with their health, before they become much larger problems down the road.
In addition to this donation, AdventHealth Flagler provides an array of diagnostic services, including laboratory and imaging services, to Flagler County Free Clinic patients throughout the year.
We've been blessed to have the opportunity to support the Flagler County Free Clinic for many years, said John Subers, AdventHealth Flagler Foundation executive director. It is the right thing to do and helps us extend our mission beyond the hospital walls and directly into the community we serve. We consider it a privilege to partner with them to care for the needs of our community.
