More than a year ago, Keilani Fowler remembers being told she needed an emergency c-section. Her baby was not due for another 10 weeks. She was rushed to AdventHealth Littleton, where she welcomed Andre Duncan, fondly known as Dre J, into the world on June 2, 2024.
“We were unable to hold him for the first three days because he needed to stay under the light,” Keilani remembers. “He was so strong throughout his stay. Thanks to his great care, he hit every milestone and was able to come home after five weeks.”
Dre J returned to AdventHealth Littleton on Sunday, July 13 for the annual NICU reunion. This year’s carnival-themed event reunited many families with their caretakers for the first time since their hospital stay.
The Johnson family was also thrilled to return to AdventHealth Littleton to thank the nurses and doctors who took care of their daughter, Sunday Colin Johnson. When she was first born on June 11, 2024, she weighed only one pound, 15 ounces.
“Sunday was born at just 26 weeks and four days,” said mom, Lissette Johnson. “Due to her size and age, she needed to stay in the NICU until close to her original due date.”
On September 3, 2024, Sunday was able to head home and is now a very happy and healthy 13-month-old.
Both Sunday and Dre J enjoyed all of the carnival themed games and food, and the AdventHealth Littleton team enjoyed seeing their former patients doing so well. They look forward to reconnecting with many of the families again at next year’s reunion!
