The Edna Owens Breast Center at AdventHealth Gordon celebrated its fifth anniversary since opening in 2019. Team members reflected on the community members they’ve served and the growth of the breast center as part of AdventHealth Gordon’s comprehensive cancer care program.
Since opening, the team has performed a total of 27,934 mammograms. They recently hosted their fourth annual $30 May Mammogram Campaign where 655 people were served, and 234 patients without insurance coverage used the promotion.
Some of the clinic’s key services and awards include:
- 3D SmartCurveTM mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, genetic testing, bone density and same day breast biopsies
- Certified by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Center of Excellence
- Extended hours on Mondays and Tuesdays until 7 pm and the first Sunday of the month from 8 am to 12 pm.
- Results available online within 24 hours as well as receiving a phone call with your results.
“I am honored to be a part of the breast center team,” said Emily Tarpley, operation manager of oncology services at AdventHealth Gordon. “Our team is truly compassionate about what they are called to do, and they live out our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ every day. Just recently, I had a patient tell me about how wonderful every step was from scheduling to the smile she was greeted with at registration. She said the technologist made her feel extremely comfortable during the exam, her appointment was fast, and she was on about her day. She was then called later that day with her results.”
