Achieving a healthier lifestyle is a common goal that is often difficult to begin without support. CREATION Life classes are based upon eight principles for healthy living- choice, rest, environment, activity, trust, interpersonal relationships, outlook and nutrition. These courses are designed to teach the community how to become mentally fit, physically robust and spiritually vital. Each uniquely designed course combines elements of the eight principles to teach participants a healthier way of life.
CREATION Life classes are focused on health promotion and disease prevention, says Candace Huber, Director of Mission Development, AdventHealth Waterman. Anyone can receive real health benefits from implementing the lessons taught in each class, whatever their health status.
Held in the Conry CREATION Life Center at AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, the classes offered this season include:
Yum- Yum Club: Join in these fun classes and prepare meals with flavor and flair. You will be instructed in food prep by our executive chef and registered dietitian, followed by sample tasting of all recipes prepared.
Step into Fitness: This 8-session course combines the science of activity and strength building with nutrition so that you experience regained energy and reach your health goals. Includes initial measurements, instruction and practical daily application. Text and workbook included.
Diabetes Self-Management: This course is designed for those with pre-diabetes or diabetes, as well as for those needing help managing their diabetes care plan. The course includes: understanding diabetes, carbohydrate management and meal planning, exercise planning, blood glucose monitoring, managing and preventing complications and information on how making these lifestyle changes can improve overall health. Classes are taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator and Professional Health Educator.
Prevent Diabetes: This class will teach you how to prevent diabetes with food choices, exercises and knowing the tips. Taught by Nursing and Health Educators, this class will help you make changes today for a better tomorrow.
