Cardiologist Dr. Faithful Osawe has joined AdventHealth Medical Group and will provide comprehensive cardiovascular care at AdventHealth Waterman, as well as Cardiovascular Medical Group clinics in Tavares and Leesburg.
As an AdventHealth Medical Group physician, she joins a team of nearly 400 employed AdventHealth physicians and advanced practitioners representing 30 different medical specialties. With 70 practice locations across Flagler, Lake, Sumter and Volusia counties, AdventHealth Medical Group clinicians collectively cared for more than one million patient visits in 2023.
“I’m excited to be an integral part of this community, not only in my practice but also in Lake County,” Osawe said. “While I am deeply interested in treating heart disease and heart failure, one of my goals is to engage in community outreach to enhance and raise awareness about heart health, given that heart disease is the leading cause of death among Americans."
Osawe earned her medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University in St. Lucia, West Indies, from which she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Her first cardiovascular medicine fellowship took place at Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields, Illinois, and she followed that with a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Osawe to the AdventHealth team,” said Abel Biri, AdventHealth Waterman president and CEO. “Her expertise in cardiology and commitment to advancing patient care make her a valuable addition. Dr. Osawe’s dedication to both clinical excellence and innovative research aligns perfectly with our mission to provide outstanding health care.”
Osawe worked as an assistant professor of medicine at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, a hospitalist at Metro South Medical Centre in Blue Island, Illinois, and Northwestern Medicine at Kishwaukee Hospital in Dekalb, Illinois.
She has authored numerous research papers, peer-reviewed articles and presentations, including studies on rate versus rhythm control in atrial fibrillation, HIV/AIDS's cardiac effects and amyloidosis, a disease involving abnormal protein deposits.
