LAKE, FLAGLER AND VOLUSIA COUNTIES, FLA., November 12, 2018 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has named Adventist Health System, which includes the AdventHealths in Lake, Flagler and Volusia counties, as a recipient of its 2018 Most Wired award, based on the results of HealthCare’s Most Wired survey.
The award, in its 20th year, identifies and recognizes health care organizations that exemplify best practices through their adoption, implementation and use of information technology.
“Leveraging technology and innovation is a part of our commitment to delivering best-practice, high-quality care,” said David Ottati, president and chief executive officer of Adventist Health System’s Central Florida Division - North Region, which includes the AdventHealths located in Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties. “Receiving the Most Wired award is an honor for our organization and we are thankful for the talented, mission-focused team members who help develop, support and maintain the systems that enable us to deliver on our promise of wholeness through exceptional patient care.”
This marks the sixth consecutive year that Adventist Health System has earned the Most Wired distinction. Adventist Information Technology, the organization’s information technology (IT) department, manages and oversees its business systems and information technology solutions across its hospitals, home health and hospice agencies, skilled nursing facilities, physician practices and business offices.
Only the top 25 percent of respondents were recipients of the award due to a rigorous selection process.
According to the survey, two key areas emerged in 2018: the use of foundational technologies such as integration, interoperability, security and disaster recovery; and the use of transformational technologies to support population health management, value-based care, patient engagement and telehealth.
“Health care IT has the potential to revolutionize care around the world, but to meet that potential, it must be used strategically,” said Russell Branzell, president and CEO of CHIME. “The technology is important, but leadership and a strategic vision are equally important. The diversity of the organizations that earned Most Wired status this year shows quality care can be achieved almost anywhere under the right leadership. By sharing the best practices in Most Wired, we hope quality care will one day be available everywhere.”
