Leaders at AdventHealth North Pinellas unveiled a newly dedicated orthopedic and spine unit. The project will help address the growing needs for high-quality orthopedic and spine services throughout Pinellas County. The newly designed space will include 12 private patient rooms and a suite of comprehensive services that will help reduce recovery time and improve patient outcomes.
“Our team of experts are deeply committed to providing exceptional solutions for patients who require care now and, in the future,” said Jason Dunkel, President, and CEO of AdventHealth North Pinellas. “This expansion will not only enhance the current orthopedic and spine services offered to our patients but lead to more unparalleled healing for the communities we serve.”
The nearly 10,000 square foot unit will allow for pre-and post-operative care and is uniquely designed to offer physical therapy five days a week. It’s conveniently located within the hospital and provides patients with access to trained physicians and therapists, who use emerging technology and innovative techniques.
“We look forward to using the advanced space to help care for patients who undergo complex orthopedic and spine procedures while maintaining a high level of compassion,” said Dr. Alan Graves, Orthopedic Surgeon at AdventHealth North Pinellas. “This much-needed expansion will allow us to offer world-class services for patients closer to home.”
Because the environment patients recover in is just as important as the care they receive, the new space mimics a home environment. The unit offers beds with lower rails, allows patients to wear their own clothes instead of hospital gowns, and access to a state-of-the-art gym where patients can get active and heal. An Orthopedic Navigator will also be on-site to support patients every step of the way.
AdventHealth North Pinellas has been recently recognized by the prestigious Leapfrog Group for leading the way in patient safety. The hospital achieved its 18th consecutive “A” grade for preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other harm to patients in their care.
