There were five categories of recognition for direct caregivers: physician, nurse, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, and respiratory therapist. Moir was one of 11 recipients honored from nearly 90 hospitals across the nation for providing the best of critical care to the patients.
Moir was recognized in a surprise ceremony at AdventHealth DeLand on March 28 was also honored with a donation in her name to the AdventHealth DeLand Foundation to support the hospital’s Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) services.
Moir was instrumental in changing culture around best practices related to ventilator management at AdventHealth DeLand. Her new approach to quality improvement has benefitted the ventilated patients and has been noticed by other hospitals for possible adoption.
“We are so proud of Marlyn and thrilled that Advanced ICU Care has recognized her for the great work of our respiratory therapists,” said Craig Lindsey, AdventHealth DeLand chief nursing officer. “This award recognizes the teamwork and collaboration between our staff here in the hospital and the remote tele-ICU staff. It is this collaboration that is critical to caring for patients in the continuous care environment of an ICU.”
