Hospice That’s All About Comfort and Dignity
For us, hospice is about compassion, peace and comfort during an often-difficult time. It’s a transition to a different level of support. And it’s care that helps your loved one make the most of every day.
At our AdventHealth Porter hospice center, formerly Centura Porter Adventist Hospital, we view hospice as not just about managing the pain but also adding life to your loved one’s days. It’s about making every moment matter. We’re here whenever and however you need us.
We’re here to help you find the right hospice care provider or a location that’s convenient for you.

-
When your loved one is in hospice care, you want to prevent and relieve pain and discomfort. But there’s a lot to manage at once. Having an expert in your corner to support you and your decisions can be helpful.
That’s where palliative care comes in. Palliative care is a way to relieve pain, symptoms and stress for you and your loved one, regardless of their condition or diagnosis. It’s all about improving the lives of patients and their families.
Our palliative care team works directly with a patient’s doctors, nurses and other providers to give compassionate care when it's needed most. They will help you define goals for care, serve as your guide and explain difficult treatment choices.
Palliative care services can help:
- Address changing goals of care
- Consider care options and make decisions about quality of life
- Enhance patient and family support
- Find grief counseling and bereavement support
- Interpret the benefits and burdens of care (tests, surgeries, radiation)
- Manage difficult symptoms associated with illness
- Manage side effects associated with current treatments
- Provide support for the body, mind and spirit
- Understand advance care planning (living wills and appointing a decision-maker)
- Understand discharge planning, home care, extended care or hospice
Hear From the Families We’ve Cared For
Quote“I can’t tell you how deeply touched I was by the care of your staff. Dr. Mushinsky and the nurses were wonderful. I had really wanted to bring him home for hospice care but realized I couldn’t do that. It put my heart at rest when I saw how beautifully compassionate, caring and loving the staff was. I will be telling everyone I know about how amazing the Porter hospice residence is.”

Hear From the Families We’ve Cared For
Quote“I will never forget our time at the Porter hospice residence because of each of you. Each person, hug, smile and kindness make a difference for your patients and their family members. You have no idea how you touched my mother’s life and mine. I will treasure my memories of this time for the rest of my life. You have a very difficult job, and you do it with grace, compassion and love. Without you, the residence would be a place. With you, it becomes a home filled with family and love.”
