- Leading-Edge Diagnostic Imaging and Preventive Care
You want to keep your body healthy and strong, and AdventHealth Fish Memorial of Florida is here to help. We offer a wide range of screenings and tests to help you get a firm grip on your physical health. While injury and illness can happen at any time, we want to help you avoid any potential obstacles. When your goal is to stay physically healthy and strong for as long as possible, we have the tools you need, including:
- Bone Densitometry (DEXA) Scans
- CT Scans
- Diagnostic X-Rays
- Inpatient Education (Phase I)
When you’re in AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital, formerly Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, with symptoms of heart or lung disease, you’ll receive a visit from our staff before you go home. This is the first phase of your recovery. In this health education session, you’ll learn all about:
- Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
- How to manage your medicines
- How to reduce your risk for health problems
- The best ways to quit smoking
- Testing or treatment procedures you may need
- Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs (Phase II)
Cardiac rehab: When you’re recovering from a heart procedure or are learning to manage a cardiac disease, we’ll continue to support you through the second phase of your recovery. Our exercise program can help you improve your quality of life and build strength and stamina. You’ll also attend weekly health education seminars to learn about how to live your best life with your condition. You’ll need a referral from your physician. Insurance usually covers rehab for heart conditions and procedures such as:
- Balloon angioplasty
- Coronary artery bypass grafts
- Heart attacks
- Stable angina
- Stent and valve repair or replacement
Pulmonary rehab: If you have a lung or respiratory disease or condition, our pulmonary rehab program can help you breathe easier in the second phase of your recovery. You’ll need a referral from your physician. Insurance usually covers pulmonary rehab for:
- Chronic bronchitis
- Pulmonary fibrosis
Exercise programs: In both programs, we’ll closely monitor your exercise heart rate, heart rhythm, oxygen level and blood pressure. Depending on your condition and needs, you may walk on a treadmill, ride a stationary bike, stretch and use our full line of Nautilus resistance equipment and hand weights.
Weekly health education classes: These classes are open to the public and are also an important part of our pulmonary and cardiac rehab programs. Some of the things you’ll learn about include:
- Anatomy and physiology of the heart and lungs
- Bronchial hygiene (clearing airways)
- Controlling risk factors
- Controlling stress
- Diabetes management
- Goal setting
- Healthy eating
- Label reading
- Managing medications
- Maintenance Exercise (phase III)
If you’ve been through one of our phase II cardiac or pulmonary rehab programs or have diabetes, you’re ready for our phase III exercise program. You’ll learn how to maintain your new healthier lifestyle and its wellness benefits. There is a nominal fee (similar to what you would pay at a gym). You can register a month at a time, so year-round residency isn’t required.
We’ll check your heart rate, blood pressure, heart rhythm and sugar levels at each visit. We’ll work with you to create an exercise prescription customized for your needs. Then we’ll supervise your cardiovascular resistance and stretching exercises to ensure proper technique and to help you prevent injury. Each week, you’ll have the option of attending support groups on weight loss and other relevant topics.
