On Dec. 13, the DeLand Knights of Columbus, Council 6274, donated 120 teddy bears to AdventHealth DeLand.
“It is important to us that we give back to the community,” said Ed Eberl of the DeLand Knights of Columbus. “This is our fourth year donating these teddy bears to the children at Florida Hospital DeLand.”
The hospital provided these donated teddy bears to children who visit the emergency department during the Christmas holiday.
“It is becoming a welcome tradition to see Ed and the Knights of Columbus visit our hospital each year. They have kind hearts and are becoming like family,” said Tonya Trost, AdventHealth DeLand emergency department director. “More than 20 percent of our ER patients are under 18. In this year alone, our emergency department cared for more than 10,000 pediatric patients. That’s a lot of kids! These teddy bears helped bring cheer and comfort to our youngest patients.”
