About Our Program
Welcome to the 12-month PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at AdventHealth Winter Garden. AdventHealth Winter Garden is a dynamic and expanding facility located in the heart of West Orange County, just outside of Orlando. Originally opened in 2016 as a standalone emergency department, the hospital has since grown into a full-service acute care facility offering inpatient services, surgical care, imaging, and outpatient support. In 2026, we will expand our hospital to 140+ beds with services to include women’s health, including labor and delivery, and a cancer institute. This transformation reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of our community.
Thank you for your interest in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at AdventHealth Winter Garden.

Program Overview
The PGY1 residency program is built upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Pharmacists who successfully complete a PGY1 residency program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education. They will be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
Residents at AdventHealth Winter Garden will be integrated into both centralized and decentralized pharmacy practice models, understanding operations and inventory management, as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes.
