AdventHealth East Orlando PGY1 Residents

Jessica Giraldo, PharmD

Hometown: Queens, NY
Pharmacy School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Bradenton Campus

Jessica chose AdventHealth East Orlando for her PGY-1 residency because of its strong reputation for clinical training and commitment to serving the Orlando community. Her past experiences in hospital and clinical settings sparked a passion for direct patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration, which aligned well with AdventHealth’s dynamic and high-acuity environment. As someone who has called Orlando home for many years, Jessica was especially excited for the opportunity to return to the area to be closer to family. She was also drawn to the program’s emphasis on professional development and whole-person care, along with opportunities to grow as a mentor and educator by not only by counseling patients, but also by teaching and supporting future pharmacy students. Jessica is most excited to start her PGY-1 residency at AdventHealth East Orlando and gain hands-on experience in direct patient care. She looks forward to learning from her preceptors, exploring her interest in emergency medicine, and growing as a clinician. Jessica enjoys spending her free time with her family, including her dog Willow, watching movies/shows, and playing video games. She has a passion for travel and loves exploring both new cities and hidden gems, whether it’s a weekend getaway or a longer trip to experience different cultures, food, and scenery. This year, she’s looking forward to revisiting her favorite local spots, exploring new restaurants, and spending more time with family. Jessica’s career goals post-residency include pursuing a PGY-2 in Emergency Medicine to further specialize. In the long term, she hopes to take on a teaching and mentorship role, helping to train future pharmacy students and residents while serving as a clinical pharmacist in a setting where she can make a meaningful impact.

Kaelen Glaze, PharmD

Hometown: St. Augustine, FL
Pharmacy School: NOVA Southeastern University, Barry & Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy

Dr. Glaze chose AdventHealth for residency because it is a large, well-established health system that offers a wide variety of clinical experiences to support his growth as a pharmacist. The depth of rotational opportunities allow for exposure to diverse patient populations and practice areas, which is essential for developing a well-rounded clinical skill set. Additionally, I was drawn to the strong sense of community and collaboration within the pharmacy team. Kaelen is most excited for starting AdventHealth residency PGY1 to build strong relationships, learn from experienced mentors, and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered care. Kaelen enjoys playing and watching sports, going to the movies, and spending quality time with friends and family outside of work. Kaelen is not new to Orlando area, but he hopes to be more adventurous and try out the new amusement parks and restaurants. Kaelen is also looking forward to attending Orlando Magic and Orlando City games. Kaelen's career goals post residency are to complete a PGY2 and become BCPS certified.
