New AdventHealth Physician offers New Option for Same-Day Care

AdventHealth is pleased to welcome Craig Burnworth, MD, AAFP, to our team at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at Candler*. Dr. Burnworth is board-certified in both family medicine and primary care sports medicine. In his new role, he will be providing convenient, patient-centered acute and family medicine care at the AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty Same-Day Care in Candler, NC.

Dr. Burnworth received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. He then completed his Family Medicine residency from the Palmetto Richland Family Practice Residency in Columbia, SC, and his fellowship from Moses Cone Family Medicine Residency Sports Medicine Fellowship in Greensboro, NC.

Dr. Burnworth’s care philosophy centers on building meaningful relationships with patients and creating personalized care plans that reflect their goals and values. “I truly enjoy the patient experience,” Dr. Burnworth explains. “I enjoy getting to know my patients and connecting with them. I think by first doing this, I then can take the best care of them. I’m invested in my patients having a good experience and getting the best care I can provide.”

His inspiration to practice medicine began in the Boy Scouts. Feeling called to serve, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he provided care in field hospitals during Operation Iraqi Freedom. “Taking care of active-duty military members was a true privilege,” he shares.

Dr. Burnworth has more than 18 years of experience in musculoskeletal care, sports medicine and urgent care driven by his deep commitment to whole-person care.

Outside of work, Dr. Burnworth enjoys hiking, birding, traveling and spending time with his wife Elizabeth and their two children. He recently completed a personal wellness journey that included meditation, and a pilgrimage through Portugal and Spain.
