AdventHealth welcomes new internal medicine physician in South Asheville

AdventHealth welcomes Micah DeBenedetto, DO, to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at South Asheville*. Dr. DeBenedetto is board-certified in Internal Medicine and brings a passion for whole-person care. He is excited to serve the South Asheville community with exceptional care, compassion and a wholistic approach to wellness and health.

Dr. DeBenedetto earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency Program Primary Care Track from Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia in Columbia, SC.

Dr. DeBenedetto’s philosophy of care is deeply rooted in wholistic and osteopathic medicine, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit. He is passionate about empowering his patients in their healing journey by providing comprehensive education that enables them to make informed decisions that align with their personal health goals.

“My overarching goal as a primary care physician is to help my patients find health,” Dr. DeBenedetto explains. “I believe that establishing a strong, trusting physician-customer relationship is fundamental to effective care. It is a profound honor when my patients express that they feel genuinely heard and supported, and that I have navigated them through their health journey with empathy and wholistic understanding.”

As an Internal Medicine physician, Dr. DeBenedetto specializes in diagnosing and managing complex adult conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disorders. He coordinates treatment plans with specialists and provides comprehensive preventative and ongoing care. He also offers osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) to address musculoskeletal health issues and promote overall health and well-being.

Dr. DeBenedetto is excited to join the AdventHealth team and embrace the vibrant community of Western North Carolina. “I can’t wait to call the Blue Ridge Mountains, the French Broad River Valley, the Henderson County apple orchards, and beyond, my new home!”

Dr. DeBenedetto is married, and they are the proud parents of a joyful, explorative and thoughtful two-year-old daughter. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, writing screenplays and children’s books, and exploring the outdoors with his family. He is committed to professional growth, community connection, and promoting health equity.
