— A multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinic at AdventHealth Celebration, which opens on Aug. 12, brings together leading physicians across multiple specialty areas to help decrease the time between diagnosis and treatment for patients diagnosed with all forms of neurological cancerous and non-cancerous brain tumors. In a single-day appointment, patients meet with and are evaluated by a medical oncologist, neurosurgeon and radiation oncologist to create a comprehensive treatment plan close to home.
The new clinic extends the program currently found at AdventHealth Orlando, allowing Celebration patients to receive lifesaving care close to home. Conditions treated at the clinic include meningioma, pituitary tumors and skull-base tumors, among others. Patients will also be able to undergo screening for cutting-edge procedures such as the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and Optune tumor treating field system, previously only available at AdventHealth Orlando.
“The expansion of our multidisciplinary clinic model represents a further, significant advancement in the effort to bring effective new therapies to cancer patients in Central Florida,” said Dr. Herbert Newton, medical director of the Neuro-Oncology program at AdventHealth Cancer Institute.
“AdventHealth Celebration was founded more than 20 years ago with the goal of creating a world-class hospital with a unique healing environment,” said Dr. Melvin Field, medical director of the Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery Program at AdventHealth. “The addition of this clinic helps us serve the growing health-care needs of the community and provide sophisticated neurological care close to home.”
