AdventHealth Now Offering EsoCheck and EsoGuard Procedures

October 02, 2023 — AdventHealth Manchester is proud to announce that we now offer EsoCheck and EsoGuard procedures to patients. These innovative tests can help detect Barrett's Esophagus (BE), a condition that can increase the risk of developing esophageal cancer.

Dr. Gregory Wilkens, general surgeon at AdventHealth Manchester, states, "Early detection is key in managing esophageal conditions. EsoCheck and EsoGuard offer a minimally invasive approach to identify Barrett's Esophagus, enabling timely intervention and improved patient outcomes."

EsoCheck is a non-invasive, five-minute test that uses a swallowable balloon catheter to collect cells from the esophagus for analysis. EsoGuard is a laboratory test that analyzes DNA from the cells collected by EsoCheck for specific DNA changes associated with BE and esophageal cancer. These procedures can help detect BE early, allowing for earlier intervention and treatment.
