AdventHealth would like to introduce you to Sarah Parvin, BSN, RN, winner of our DAISY Award for Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ through her uncommon compassion in the Medical-Surgical Unit at AdventHealth Hendersonville.
Sarah recently demonstrated this when a patient had to be admitted for cardiac evaluation following chest pain prior to scheduled shoulder surgery. While the tests ultimately showed no concerning results, the experience was understandably stressful and unexpected for the patient and his wife.
Sarah demonstrated extraordinary compassion and attentiveness with every interaction. She was sensitive to the emotional toll of the situation. She consistently checked in, not just on physical symptoms, but on how the patient was coping with the change in plans. Sarah provided whole-person care through her kindness and positive presence. She lived out AdventHealth mission and commitment to help patients feel safe, loved and supported.
Sarah was nominated for this award by the patient who shared, "It was obvious she cared about what was going on with me and my situation. Please let her know I appreciate her kindness and support during my stay. It was comforting to know she truly loves what she does."
AdventHealth Hendersonville is honored to recognize Sarah as the new DAISY Award winner.
The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes in 1999 to thank the nurses who cared for Patrick and for them as he battled an autoimmune disease. Patrick lost his battle, but his family realized the impact his nurses had on the final days of his life. For that, they wanted to create an opportunity for all families who experience the benefits of the extraordinary care of nurses to show their appreciation.
