AdventHealth is expanding once again in Polk County with the opening of a new AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) Pulmonology and Critical Care office in Lake Wales. At the facility, Dr. Daniela Trelles and Dr. Valeria Trelles will treat patients in need of critical care as well as those with conditions impacting their respiratory systems, including their airways and lungs.

On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, AdventHealth leaders and team members cut the ribbon at the new office on 1255 State Road 60 E, Suite 300 in Lake Wales, with the support of community leaders and members. The facility features four exam rooms. Among the procedures, the doctors will be able to perform there are electrocardiograms (EKGs), a non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of your heart to help diagnose heart conditions, as well as Spirometry, a pulmonary function test that determines how well a patient’s lungs work by measuring how much air goes in and out when they breathe.

Dr. Daniela Trelles and Dr. Valeria Trelles are sisters who recently joined the AdventHealth network of care. They are both expert pulmonary and critical care providers, who are fluent in English and Spanish and dedicated to supporting each patient and their family with a combination of clinical expertise and compassionate care.

“We are delighted to be part of this community and to have the opportunity to help guide patients through their conditions toward a better quality of life,” Dr. Daniela Trelles said. “We are committed to understanding and being attentive to each patient’s concerns, fears and health goals.”

“We strive to provide patients with clear, understandable information about their conditions and treatment options, empowering them to manage their health and make informed decisions,” Dr. Valeria Trelles added. “Our goal is to be a trusted partner by helping patients breathe easier, feel stronger, and live more fully.”

The doctors will treat patients dealing with a multitude of different conditions including Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Emphysema, Chronic Cough, Pneumonia, Sleep Disorders, and Exercise Intolerance, among others.

According to the American Lung Association, COPD is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. The data showed about 166 per 100,000 people in Polk County were hospitalized with COPD, compared to Florida's overall rate of about 111 per 100,000 people.
