In a groundbreaking partnership, AdventHealth Hendersonville and Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) have launched a first-of-its-kind self-service kiosk within the hospital’s main campus, designed to directly connect Veterans, Service Members and their families to life-changing resources across North Carolina.
This dedicated kiosk serves as a trusted entry point into the NCServes network, the nation’s first statewide coordinated care system for military-connected communities. Through this innovative technology, users can easily submit requests for services spanning 21 human service domains, including transportation, housing, employment, mental health, Veterans benefits and other essential social supports.
“This partnership represents a new level of accessibility for those who have served,” said Brandon Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of ABCCM. “We’re intentionally reimagining how Veterans and their families connect to care moving beyond traditional pathways to meet them where they already are. Partnering with AdventHealth expands both awareness and collaboration. It’s another powerful step in North Carolina’s commitment to coordinated, compassionate service.”
By embedding a self-serve NCServes kiosk inside a trusted health care environment like AdventHealth Hendersonville, ABCCM and its partners are bridging that divide. Veterans can now instantly explore and request support for VA benefits, housing, employment, mental health and social service needs, helping ensure that those who served receive the full range of benefits they’ve earned. This initiative is not only about accessibility, it’s about equity. It strengthens the “no wrong door” approach North Carolina has built through NCServes, ensuring every Veteran and military family has direct access to care, no matter where they start their journey.
“At AdventHealth, we believe that true healing begins with meeting people where they are and honoring their unique journeys,” said Daniel Tryon, President and Chief Executive Officer for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “This partnership with ABCCM and NCServes allows us to extend our mission in a meaningful way, making it easier for Veterans and military families to find the support they need, right here in our community. By bringing this innovative kiosk to our Hendersonville campus, we’re opening new doors to care, connection and hope. I am grateful for the dedication of our team and our partners, who share our vision of whole-person care and who work tirelessly to ensure that every individual who has served our country feels valued and supported.”
The NCServes kiosk will be located in the AdventhHealth Hendersonville Emergency Department entrance area, allowing for 24-hour access. Once a request is made, it is routed to NCServes’ Coordination Center, where trained specialists connect individuals to the right services and providers to meet their needs. The network’s “no wrong door” approach ensures that help is accessible whether through hospitals, community agencies like the Henderson County Veterans Service Office or now, this new self-serve kiosk.
“With more than 7,800 Veterans residing in Henderson County, we are proud to stand with partners like ABCCM and AdventHealth. This kiosk creates another seamless entry point for our Veterans, Service members and their families to access housing, employment, transportation, mental health and other vital supports all underpinned by our statewide network of care. Together, we’re ensuring that every Veteran in our county can receive the help they deserve right where they already seek care.” Stated Henderson County Manager John Mitchell.
Celebrating its 10th year of operation serving Veterans across North Carolina, NCServes has connected over 80,000 Veterans, Service Members, and family members to care across the state and manages more than 35,000 calls each year. Traditionally, referrals have been made by community providers assisting Veterans or Veterans calling into the call center; this new kiosk empowers individuals to self-initiate assistance and expand direct access to the statewide network. This project aligns with statewide initiatives like the NCDHHS AskMeNC campaign, which encourages providers to identify and support those with military service.
The initiative reflects the strength of North Carolina’s integrated ecosystem of care linking health care, faith-based, and community organizations in a seamless model that ensures no Veteran is left behind. Additionally, NC Serves will announce extended hours of operation as a partnership with VAYA Health will increase accessibility into this network of care statewide beginning Veterans Day.
