
Muscle, Mobility and Aging Research
AdventHealth is seeking volunteers to participate in an exciting new research study. As a SOMMA participant, you have the opportunity to join a national effort to understand how our muscles change as we age.
Qualified participants may be compensated up to $450.


Study Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria
- 70 years of age or older
- Able to attend clinic visits
- Willing to have an MRI scan
Your Commitment
- Three baseline visits
- Six-month phone contacts
- Annual follow-up visits
Study Procedures
- Physical examinations and measurements
- Vision tests
- Physical function and exercise tests
- Cognitive function tests
- MRI scan
- Tissue collection

The goal of SOMMA is to try and understand better why some people lose muscle strength and mobility as they get older, and how this might lead to difficulties with everyday activities, dementia — and to help find ways to prevent or treat those problems.
