About this Event

The first few days with a newborn bring incredible joy—along with many new questions. Our First Day with Baby: Newborn Class is designed to help new and expectant parents feel confident, prepared, and supported as they welcome their little one. Taught by an experienced postpartum and newborn nurse, this class offers practical, evidence-based guidance on caring for your baby during those important early days at home.

Topics include:

  • Understanding normal newborn appearance and behaviors
  • Feeding basics: breastfeeding, formula feeding, cues, and expected patterns
  • Safe sleep practices and reducing SIDS risk
  • Diapering, bathing, cord care, and hygiene
  • Newborn comfort measures, soothing techniques, and skin-to-skin
  • Recognizing signs of illness and when to call your provider
  • What to expect in the hospital and preparing for the transition home

This class is interactive and supportive—perfect for first-time parents, partners, and anyone helping care for the new baby. Feel free to bring your lunch or snacks as you learn.

At the conclusion of the class, participants will enjoy a guided tour of the Labor & Delivery Unit, offering the same experience available during our Meet & Greet sessions.

Registration includes the expectant mother and one (1) adult guest. No need to complete a separate registration for the additional guest.
