- An Expert Team You Can Trust
-
A Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence® facility, we’re an accredited surgical center with a highly trained team of experts from multiple specialties, including surgeons, dietitians and nurses. You can count on us to be skilled, sensitive to your needs and dedicated to helping you reach your goals.
- Nationally Recognized Bariatric Care
-
At our AdventHealth Parker hospital, we offer you the best in weight-loss surgery. But don’t take our word for it. These certifications and distinctions aren’t important because of the plaques on our wall. They’re important because they show we’re a leader in weight-loss medicine — and excelling when it comes to taking care of you.
The following organizations have recognized our program:
American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS)
We’re part of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. The leaders at ASMBS and ACS acknowledge bariatric surgery centers that perform well, and there is clinical evidence that well-run bariatric surgery programs have lower rates of complications. When you know your bariatric center performs well, you know you’re getting safe and high-quality care.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Blue Cross Blue Shield has accredited us as a Blue Distinction Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery because we provide a full range of top-quality bariatric surgery care.
CIGNA
We’re a CIGNA 3-Star Quality Bariatric Center, which means CIGNA has recognized our program for excelling in patient care and clinical outcomes.
The Joint Commission
We’re among only a few centers in the country — and the first in Colorado — to be certified by The Joint Commission for bariatric surgery. This designation means we’ve succeeded in quality and our patient approach to bariatric surgical services.
Optum
We’ve been included in the Optum Center of Excellence network, reserved for programs that meet or exceed nationally recognized standards of care. In other words, we value and work with high standards.
- Choose From Minimally Invasive Options
-
Our surgeons use laparoscopic or robotic-assisted procedures because they offer benefits like fewer risks, less pain and scarring and a faster recovery and return to everyday activities.
Our surgical options include the following:
- Gastric bypass: involves changes to your stomach and small intestine, changes the way your body absorbs and digests food and is the most common type of bariatric procedure
- Sleeve gastrectomy: a procedure that removes 80% of the stomach; the new stomach holds a much smaller volume of food, restricting you from consuming excess calories
- Loop duodenal switch: a weight-loss surgery that involves a sleeve gastrectomy (removes most of the stomach), followed by an intestinal bypass procedure (limits calories you can consume)
- Support Before and After Surgery
-
A successful bariatric procedure begins long before you enter the operating room and continues with daily adjustments for a lifetime. You'll receive expert guidance from your first contact with our weight-loss center. We’ll let you know what to expect, how to take care of your health every day and ways to make behavior changes that stick.
Some main components of our program include:
- Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence accredited surgical facility with bariatric surgery trained care teams
- Internet-based learning opportunities
- Medically supervised weight-loss classes before your procedure
- Nutritional counseling with a registered dietitian who specializes in weight-loss surgery
- Ongoing coordination with your bariatric surgeon
- Psychological counseling
- Support groups
- Compassionate, Ongoing Support Groups
-
We’re more successful when we get help from others. Joining a weight-loss surgery support group increases your chances of reaching your goal versus going it alone. Our support groups are not only a great way to learn and share with your peers, but they can also keep your weight-loss motivation high.
Groups feature a speaker on a subject of interest and plenty of time for questions and discussion. All weight-loss surgery patients — and their families — are welcome to join.
