Apr. 14, 2022; Hendersonville, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Onajite Onaodowan, MD to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Rheumatology at Hendersonville. Dr. Onaodowan is board-certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. She specializes in general rheumatology, rheumatoid arthritis and related issues.

Dr. Onaodowan earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, M.D., and her Doctor of Medicine degree from UMDNJ: Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, N.J. She went on to complete her internal medicine residency program in Newark, N.J. and her fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Dr. Onaodowan exemplified AdventHealth’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ by serving as a volunteer for several organizations. First she worked with the Refugee Youth Project in Baltimore, M.D. as a mentor and tutor, and then she served as a student doctor at the UMDNJ-RWJMS Adult Health Outreach Project in Camden, N.J.

At AdventHealth Hendersonville, Rheumatology specialists diagnose, treat, and medically manage patients who have autoimmune diseases and musculoskeletal conditions. These conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis and more. The team of providers teach patients, family and caregivers how to adjust, live and maintain quality of life while managing chronic, rheumatic disease.

“Dr. Onaodowan began caring for our patients in an interim role since May 2021. Our patients have shared how much they appreciate the care she gives them that goes beyond just the physical need.
