AdventHealth Celebration is offering an important new service that will allow its tiniest and most vulnerable patients to get care closer to home.

The hospital today debuted its new, 10-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Level II NICU includes six private rooms and meets a growing need for critical care in Central Florida.

The new NICU is part of AdventHealth neonatal network of care that now includes 156 beds located throughout Central Florida. AdventHealth Celebration CEO, Ken Bradley, said the NICU is a positive development for expectant moms in Osceola, Polk and southwest Orange County.

We're pleased that we have added intensive services for these tiny patients and their families to our network of care, and that residents can receive care much closer to home here in Celebration, Bradley said.

The Celebration unit joins a network of care that includes NICU beds at AdventHealth campuses in Orlando, Winter Park and Daytona Beach, as well as via a partnership with Health First at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

Dr. Rajan Wadhawan, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of neonatology at AdventHealth for Children, said having private rooms is a key element of the new unit.

From a clinical perspective, you want to facilitate bonding between parents and child, Wadhawan said. Private rooms offer a more conducive environment for that bonding to occur.
