Where a Talent for Medicine Meets a Forte for Music
AdventHealth is home to some of the nation’s most brilliant minds in medicine — and our providers’ talents extend well beyond the walls of our facilities, too. Bringing together the best of AdventHealth’s musically talented team members and physicians in Greater Orlando, the AdventHealth Orchestra is the first all-employee orchestra in our nationwide health care system.
Led by AdventHealth’s Director of Music and the Arts, Richard Hickam, the AdventHealth Orchestra started with string instruments — the violin, viola, cello and double bass — and has expanded to include percussion, brass and woodwind instruments.
More than a creative outlet for physicians and clinicians, the AdventHealth Orchestra offers team members the incredible opportunity to reflect, bond and ultimately feel whole together through music.
A Requiem for Lives Lost to COVID-19
In November 2021, the AdventHealth Orchestra held its first performance at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. “AdventHealth Requiem,” a rendition of Samuel Barber’s “The Adagio,” honored fellow team members who served on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic and remembered those who lost their lives to the virus.
