10-Minute Cherry Chia Seed Jam

Flavorful, Cherry Jam

This quick and wholesome chia jam comes together quickly, resulting in a vibrant, spoonable jam that’s bursting with flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. Chia seeds are tiny but mighty seeds that provide an excellent source of plant-based omega-3 fats that help reduce inflammation, promote healthy digestion, stabilize blood sugar, and support heart health. Try a dollop over pancakes, waffles, yogurt or even ice cream to give your meal a boost of flavor and nutrition!

Yield: ~1 cup

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds

Preparation

  1. Place cherries, lemon juice and optional maple syrup in a small saucepan and heat over medium-high heat. Use a potato masher or large fork to mash the cherries up a bit and stir frequently until they are heated thoroughly. Once the cherries begin to bubble up, turn heat down to a simmer cook for 1-2 more minutes.

  2. Turn off the heat and stir in chia seeds. Allow the fruit and chia seed mixture to cool for at least 5 minutes before serving. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

  3. Store in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container for up to 7 days.
