DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 6, 2016 On March 31, the community joined Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center for an open house.
Attendees toured the Daytona Beach hospitals cardiovascular center on the third floor, met the clinical team and learned about new advances in cardiovascular care.
Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Centers cardiovascular center is home to a team of skilled physicians and cardiovascular specialists that perform more cardiac procedures each year than any other hospital in the area.
Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center was the first to introduce open heart surgery to the community more than 35 years ago, said Scott Strech, cardiovascular administrator for the Florida Hospital East Florida Region, which is comprised of six Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties. Today, the hospital continues to bring advanced technology and procedures to care for the community, including Transaortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and percutaneous ventricular assist devices.
Additionally, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center offers cardiac clinical trials, with results published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. The hospital also serves as a training site for cardiac procedures and devices, helping to train other physicians, nurses and technicians on advancements in cardiovascular care.
