The Seventh-day Adventist Church began in 1863 as a movement that focused on the Bible’s teachings and a lifestyle of healthy living, compassion and service. Today, the Adventist Church has a presence in more than 130 countries around the world and is one of the most diverse and fastest growing Christian denominations in North America. Team Member Series Sheets: Adventist Health Care Legacy
In 1866, a small group of Seventh-day Adventist church members opened a health care facility in Battle Creek, Michigan. Their unique approach to health was grounded in caring for the body, mind and spirit. This philosophy still serves as the foundation for Adventist health care. Today, AdventHealth is one of the largest providers in the United States, with more than 83,000 team members serving more than five-million patients each year.
