Our Mission Powers Your Physical Therapy Training
Our AdventHealth Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program promotes the professional development and advanced clinical training of orthopedic physical therapists.
The residency highlights the core values of the physical therapy profession and the importance of making lasting contributions to the community. Through leadership training and development, therapists will work toward becoming exceptional clinicians, educators and scholars.
Our faculty members will provide curriculum and clinical training emphasizing critical thinking, patient-centered practice and advanced clinical skills. We promote the advancement of the orthopedic physical therapy field by emphasizing evidence-based practices and the need for individual contributions to the existing body of knowledge through clinical research.
About Our Residency Program
Our residency is 12 months duration, with rotations in acute care, inpatient rehab and outpatient care. Our program is accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education as a post-professional residency program for physical therapists in neurology. We invite you to explore this site and apply for the residency. Our program director is happy to answer any questions you may have.
- General Information

Overview
The program is designed to provide residents with a year-long intensive study of orthopedic physical therapy, preparing them to become advanced practitioners and to sit for (and pass) the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Exam offered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. The clinical time during the residency, which includes structured one-on-one mentoring, comprises approximately 90% of a typical week. The remainder of the time is spent completing didactic training, research, exam preparation, presentations, assistant teaching and shadowing physicians related to the overall curriculum of the residency program.

The credential conferred is the Certificate of Completion of Post-Professional Residency in Orthopedic Physical Therapy.
Length of Program
The program begins on December 1 and lasts for 12 months.
Program Entrance Date
Residents will begin working in the clinic during the first week of September, and the residency officially starts on December 1. This allows residents to acclimate to the use of EMR and the flow of patient care for a seamless transition into the residency program.

Tuition
While enrolled in our orthopedic residency program, there is no fee for tuition or specialized training. The resident is required to purchase Current Concepts or Orthopedic Physical Therapy prior to beginning the formal residency.
