TAVARES, Fla., July 19, 2019 – AdventHealth Waterman recognized registered nurse Chrissy Stephens with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses.
Stephens received this nomination from a patient she cared for in June while she was a nurse on AdventHealth Waterman’s 3N-Progressive Care Unit. Stephens now works in the hospital’s newly opened Center for Women and Children.
“All of my nurses were very, very good. However, my wife and I nominate nurse Crissy who was extraordinarily superior,” the patient wrote in nominating Stephens. “Nurse Crissy excelled in her nursing knowledge and professional nursing skills in every possible way. Nurse Crissy has a God given talent which has given her the ability to connect with her patient, giving deep-seated empathy and genuine compassion in caring for her patient in a very positive and caring way. Nurse Crissy uses her nursing authority in a very kindhearted, gentle way with compassion and kindness, which gave me, as her patient, a sense of comfort and sense of wellbeing. Nurse Crissy radiates her joy of being a nurse and doing everything in her power to give her very best to her patient. She has found her niche."
This is Stephens’ second time receiving the DAISY award this year. She previously won this accolade in March.
Created in 1999, more than 2,500 healthcare facilities in all 50 states, as well as 15 other countries, use the DAISY Award to honor nurses.
In recognition of this honor, Stephens received a bouquet of daisies, a certificate, a tote bag, and a hand-carved stone sculpture of the “Healer’s Touch” by an artist of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
