AdventHealth announces new director of community benefit and community health

ASHEVILLE, N.C., HENDERSONVILLE, NC, May 15, 2025 – AdventHealth is pleased to share that DeLaina Lewkowicz has transitioned from her role as Business Development Manager to the new Director of Community Benefit and Community Health at AdventHealth Hendersonville. With more than a decade of strategic leadership experience, Lewkowicz is set to expand and foster meaningful and impactful relationships between AdventHealth and the community of Western North Carolina.

Lewkowicz is excited to be stepping into this new role that will strengthen AdventHealth’s relationships across our community. Along with the whole-person care team members offer within clinical facilities, Lewkowicz is offering team members new ways to broaden their approach to care that takes them beyond our walls. She will be offering new programs such as the AdventHealth Care Crew to expand opportunities for team members to volunteer in meaningful ways in our community. Lewkowicz believes these service opportunities will help spread whole-person care around the community in unique ways that help spark conversations and form new and lasting relationships.

“Community Advocacy is one of the most important aspects of AdventHealth’s culture and our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ,” Lewkowicz explains. “We believe in stepping outside the hospital and clinic walls to better support the community as a whole. We are fortunate to partner with exceptional non-profit organizations that work to meet needs in our community. Our efforts to collaborate with these partners takes priority in order to make a difference in the overall health of our community.”

As a not-for-profit hospital, AdventHealth believes in giving back to the community it serves by reinvesting resources to improve health care access and services, increasing access to care, and fostering community partnerships to help address both critical health care needs and health equity within the community.

“I am honored by the opportunity to step in the Community Benefit and Community Health role. It aligns closely with both my professional values and personal passion for improving health outcomes at the community level,” Lewkowicz shares. “I see this position as the bridge between the hospital and the community – to listen, understand and help implement initiatives – that serves both the individual and broader public health goals.” She adds, “As a seventh generation Henderson County native, I am blessed to serve the community my family has loved for so long.”

Lewkowicz and her husband, David, are the founders and co-leaders of The Bridge Church in Hendersonville. They are deeply involved in supporting first responders in Henderson County. They are also members of AdventHealth’s FaithConnect here in WNC, where they use their resources and expertise to connect with other ministry leaders throughout the community. She and her husband have two sons and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, being a chocolate connoisseur and visiting theme parks with her family.
