Medical tourism is traditionally known as people traveling to another country in order to obtain medical treatment. However, the state of Florida is redefining the term to include investors seeking innovative health care and medical device companies, as well as, doctor and medical device training events. In fact, Florida received $6 billion towards medical tourism in 2016, which is being used to expand these added initiatives.

Last week, our team at the Nicholson Center hosted our first annual Medical Tourism Event in conjunction with Experience Kissimmee, aimed at bringing local hospitality leaders together to grow Orlando as a hub for medical tourism in the coming years. During the event, local leaders discussed the rising trend of medical tourism in the area and what we can do to partner and increase the number of medical opportunities in Osceola County.
