AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida is honored to award Ed Varnes December Volunteer of the Month for 2023. Ed Varnes is the VP Client Relations and Healthcare at Batson-Cook Construction who brings passionate energy and enthusiasm everywhere he goes, including his work in philanthropy.

Ed was first introduced to the Foundation nine years ago when a friend invited him to tour AdventHealth’s Trina Hidalgo Heart Care Center. “I was so impressed with the work they are doing, providing heart care to people who can’t afford health insurance,” said Ed.

Ed learned that the center was in need of an EKG machine which would cost $15,000 so he started a clay shoot to raise the funds. Over the years, AdventHealth’s Clay Shoot developed into a signature event for the Foundation and has raised over $610,000 for the Trina Hidalgo Heart Care Center, including a record-breaking total of $120,000 in 2023.

“Life is really just about impacting other people. Whether that is our immediate family, community, or friends. The Foundation is a tremendous vehicle to leave a lasting, positive impact.” We are so grateful not only for Ed Varnes’s remarkable philanthropic achievements, but also for the passion he brings to the community.
