Are you planning a family trip to Walt Disney World® Resort? If so, you’re in luck. AdventHealth is here with insider travel hacks curated especially for families with children.
We want to help you organize the trip of a lifetime, complete with all the fun, while including much-needed downtime to keep you and your family healthy and your energy levels balanced. Keep reading to learn our helpful travel tips.
What to Pack for Infants and Toddlers
To put your mind at ease from the start, rest assured that AdventHealth has the essentials you need or may have forgotten, including diapers, milk/formula, any necessary pump parts if you’re breastfeeding, a small first aid kit with essentials and medical equipment. The good news is it’s all available for delivery to the parks or your Disney Resorts Collection hotel.
If you’re traveling with small children or an infant, remember to bring snacks they enjoy and easy-to-pack comfort items such as their favorite blanket or Mickey Mouse Plush. For longer days in the parks, it’s a good idea to pack a go bag filled with your little one’s favorite snacks, a change of clothes, hand sanitizer and anything else you may need on the go – don't forget your Mickey Mouse ears!
As far as clothing, pack enough clothes for any temperature changes. You’ll want lightweight, breathable cotton clothes for hot days, but plan ahead in case of rain or cooler nights. And don’t forget your sunscreen and lip balm. Apply it generously to all your family members before going out in the sun. A small portable fan and sunglasses are a great idea too.
Be sure to pack extra medicine, just in case. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are recommended if your kids get sick unexpectedly. However, if you forget, you can rest easy knowing we can deliver any prescription your little one needs to your resort or the parks.
Schedule Your Walt Disney World® Resort Vacation Days Like a Pro
When you’re on a Walt Disney World® vacation, it can be a challenge to choose what you want to do with your time at the parks while maintaining your energy and stamina. It’s hard enough for adults to push themselves too hard for the sake of racking up experiences, but it can be especially hard for children to be stretched beyond their limits.
Our advice is to organize the attractions you most want to visit on a list first. Try to keep it varied and appeal to everyone’s most-desired wishes in your family. And schedule in some downtime, without any specific schedule. You can play with your kids at your resort’s hotel’s pool, try an appealing restaurant, rest in the room or walk the hotel grounds. Many of the resorts are attractions in and of themselves.
At the parks, be sure to take periodic breaks for snacks, meals and free time to let your littles sit and rest their feet. You might even be able to squeeze in naptime while waiting in line for an attraction. Keep everyone cool with plenty of water and consider portable fans.
Pro tip: Single and double strollers are available for rent at every Walt Disney World® park and at the Disney Springs area. You can pre-pay for the number of days you need the stroller for additional savings.
If you want extra help planning your trip, Disney’s complimentary Genie service can help you and your family get the most out of your vacation with a personalized itinerary based on your family’s top interests. If someone in your family needs additional accommodations or requires medical attention, you have access to AdventHealth’s world-class network of care at your fingertips. In the My Disney Experience app, under the accessibility and health services tab, there will be a link to an external website where you can schedule rentals or health visits. Whether you need a wheelchair for the parks or medication for your little ones, we’ve got you covered.
Breastfeeding Moms: Know Where to Go
We know navigating the parks with babies can be an adventure in and of itself, especially if you’re breastfeeding. However, there are baby care centers in all four parks conveniently located for moms, which can conveniently be used for breastfeeding:
- Magic Kingdom® Park: Located at the end of Main Street, between Casey’s Corner and the Crystal Palace.
- EPCOT®: Located in The Odyssey, the building between Test Track, presented by General Motors® and the Mexico Pavilion.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park: Located next to Pizzafari in Discovery Island.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios®: Located immediately inside the park’s front entrance in the same building as Guest Relations.
These facilities host many helpful amenities for parents with infants and toddlers, including quiet rooms with rocking and gliding chairs, changing rooms with tables, restroom facilities, feeding areas with highchairs, baby items for purchase, televisions and kitchenette items.
