Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program
If you’re passionate about advancing your career as an orthopedic physical therapist, we encourage you to apply for AdventHealth’s Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program. Fully accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association, this 12-month program is designed to provide residents with an intensive study of orthopedic physical therapy, preparing them to become advanced practitioners and have the ability to pass the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Exam offered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Since 2011, 100% of AdventHealth's residents have completed the orthopedic physical therapy residency program and our graduates have a 94% pass rate on the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Exam.
Neurological Physical Therapy Program
If you are entering or experienced in the field of neurological physical therapy and you want to expand your foundational knowledge, clinical skills, or medical experience, we encourage you to apply for AdventHealth’s Neurological Physical Therapy Residency Program. Pending accreditation by the American Physical Therapy Association, this 13-month program is designed to provide residents with an intensive study of neurological physical therapy, preparing them to become advanced practitioners and pass the Neurological Clinical Specialist Exam offered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. This program was established in 2022 and involves clinical experience across the continuum of care through acute care, inpatient rehab, and outpatient settings. More so, the residency offers observation and clinical opportunities to work alongside the neurologist, neurosurgeons, and other medical professionals involved in the care of people with neurological disorders.
Sports Physical Therapy Program
For clinicians who would like to pursue a career in sports physical therapy, AdventHealth will be offering a Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program in December of 2023. This is a developing program that is working towards receiving accreditation in 2025 through the American Physical Therapy Association. The residency is a 12-month program that is designed to provide a comprehensive didactic education, and practical work/learning experience in the field of sports physical therapy. Residents will have the opportunity to work and learn in our state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities, and receive mentorship and instruction from expert-level sports physical therapists at AdventHealth, in addition to collaborating with our sports medicine physician partners at Rothman Orthopaedics. The program is designed to produce an advanced practitioner who is able to effectively serve the needs of patients, colleagues, and physician partners in the field of sports physical therapy. Graduates of the program will be prepared to sit for the ABPTS Specialist Examination in Sports Physical Therapy.
