Welcome to the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at AdventHealth Redmond.
AdventHealth Redmond is a nonprofit, 230-bed community teaching hospital serving as a regional referral center for Northwest Georgia and portions of Alabama. Residents benefit from exposure to a diverse patient population and a broad range of clinical services, including cardiovascular care, stroke care, critical care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, antimicrobial stewardship and ambulatory care.

Pharmacists at AdventHealth Redmond are highly valued members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The pharmacy team actively collaborates with physicians, medical residents, nurses and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes.
Through our decentralized, patient-centered practice model, residents participate in interdisciplinary rounds, emergency response activities, medication management, quality improvement initiatives and direct patient care across a variety of practice settings.
Our ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is designed to accelerate the transition from student pharmacist to confident, independent practitioner. Residents gain experience managing complex patients while developing expertise in clinical decision-making, leadership, research, teaching and practice advancement. Core learning experiences provide comprehensive exposure to acute care pharmacy practice, while elective opportunities allow residents to tailor the program to their professional interests and career goals.
Residents actively contribute to research, medication safety initiatives, committee work, formulary management and quality improvement projects that drive meaningful enhancements in patient care and pharmacy practice. In addition, residents complete a teaching certificate program, serve as co-preceptors for pharmacy students, and participate in educational activities throughout the year to strengthen their communication and teaching skills.
