Keratoderma (Abnormal Skin Thickening)
Keratoderma is a condition characterized by the abnormal thickening of skin on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Keratoderma may be either acquired or inherited. When it is a symptom of another condition such as psoriasis or ichthyosis, then it is considered acquired. Acquired keratoderma is most often seen in adults, while inherited keratoderma usually appears in childhood. A physician can help diagnose acquired and inherited keratoderma and create a plan of care that may include topical creams and oral retinoids.
