Chronic Renal Disease
Chronic renal disease (or kidney disease) is an ongoing disease that can result in loss of kidney function. The two main causes of chronic renal disease are diabetes and high blood pressure, but other factors such as autoimmune disease, kidney infections and medication can contribute to the development of this condition. Symptoms of chronic renal disease include fatigue, poor appetite, trouble concentrating and sleeping, swollen feet and ankles, puffiness around your eyes, dry skin and frequent urination. Though there is no cure for chronic renal disease, you can help reduce the damage and side effects and prevent future damage from occurring by working with your doctor and following a strict plan of care. Treatments will vary, but may include introducing medicine and lifestyle changes to help control your blood pressure, blood sugar, potassium, salt and cholesterol levels.
