DAVENPORT, Fla. — During National EMS Week, AdventHealth team members from AdventHealth Heart of Florida and AdventHealth Lake Wales visited EMS and fire stations across Polk County to thank the first responders whose quick, skilled care helps save lives and bring critical treatment to patients when they need it most.
Emergency medical teams are often the first to arrive when someone in the community is facing a life-threatening situation.
Their ability to assess, stabilize and begin treatment in those critical first moments plays a vital role in patient outcomes.
Nationwide, EMS teams respond to millions of emergency calls each year, serving as a crucial link between the scene of an emergency and the hospital.
Today, many ambulances function as mobile care units equipped with advanced tools that allow first responders to begin life-saving interventions immediately.
For patients in Polk County, that means faster access to care and better chances of recovery during some of life’s most urgent moments.
To recognize their impact, AdventHealth leaders delivered care packages designed to support EMS and fire crews during long shifts.
These included practical tools such as trauma shears and pen lights, along with meals and other items to help sustain crews while they care for the community.
AdventHealth also provided grab-and-go meals for first responders visiting the Heart of Florida and Lake Wales campuses throughout the week.
