Physician voting for the 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals “Expert Opinion” physician survey opens in February and will run through mid-March. The total number of votes collected helps to calculate a hospital’s reputation score, which contributes to its overall ranking on the Best Hospitals list. For more than 30 years, the U.S. News rankings have helped patients determine which hospitals provide the best care for the most complex medical conditions.
Why Voting is Important
To evaluate most specialties included in the rankings, U.S. News analyzes data combining performance measures in three primary dimensions of healthcare: structure, process, and outcomes. The Expert Opinion physician survey conducted by Doximity contributes to the “process” score. In addition, the survey is the sole measurement for three specialties: ophthalmology, psychiatry and rheumatology.
“Our physicians work day in and day out to innovate and improve patient outcomes for the most complex conditions,” shared Victor Herrera, MD, Chief Clinical Officer, AdventHealth Central Florida Division. “The U.S. News rankings honor this commitment and expertise and help communicate our capabilities to patients throughout the communities we serve. We encourage all our physicians to participate in the 2024-2025 Doximity survey to further strengthen our rankings.”

How to Participate in the 2024-2025 Expert Opinion Physician Survey
The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals 2024 Reputation Survey is conducted exclusively through Doximity. Since 2023, they no longer mail out surveys.
The survey will ask you to name the hospitals that provide the best care in your specialty, without consideration to location or cost. For adult specialists, the survey will allow you to list up to five hospitals in your field. Pediatric specialists can list up to 10 hospitals. The order in which you list the hospitals does not matter, and you can list as few as one hospital if you choose to do so.
Voting will begin in mid-February and run through mid-March. You can participate in the survey if you register on Doximity prior to the end of the voting period.
If you are already on Doximity, watch for an email from Doximity about the survey and follow these steps:
- Log in to your account.
- Ensure all your certifications and board documents currently up to date in your profile.
- Click on the U.S. News nomination icon or search for “U.S. News Best Hospitals” in your Doximity account.
- Select the appropriate facilities.
- Submit.
If you are not yet on Doximity, follow these steps to complete your physician profile:
- Visit Doximity.com.
- Search for your name in the search bar.
- Claim/verify your profile.
Once you click “Claim” or “Verify My Profile,” Doximity will walk you through the process step by step. Doximity uses several sources to verify physician’s identities, including faxed copies of medical credentials, badges, and licenses; DEA numbers; and emails from officially recognized medical institutions (school or hospitals).
