A new partnership between the Winter Haven Police Department and AdventHealth has allowed the agency to acquire an additional 40 AEDs to add to the fleet of vehicles
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — More lifesaving care is now within reach for the community, thanks to a new partnership between the Winter Haven Police Department and AdventHealth Heart of Florida.
The collaboration has added 40 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to patrol vehicles, helping officers respond more quickly to cardiac emergencies when every second matters.
Through this effort, the additional AEDs will allow all vehicles in the Winter Haven Police Department fleet to be equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and tourniquets, giving officers and members critical tools to respond immediately when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest or severe injury.
An AED is a medical device used when a person is in cardiac arrest. When the pads are placed on the person’s chest, the machine monitors the heart rhythm and, if needed, delivers an electrical shock to help re-establish a normal heart rate. When used quickly, an AED can significantly improve a person’s chances of survival.
“Every moment matters in an emergency,” said Dr. Sathya Ramakrishnan, chief medical officer of AdventHealth Polk Market. “By ensuring officers have access to these tools, we’re helping bring lifesaving care closer to people, right when and where it’s needed most.”
With these devices available in patrol cars, officers can begin critical care even before paramedics arrive, helping improve outcomes for people across the Winter Haven community.

Winter Haven police Chief Vance Monroe said the donation reflects a shared commitment to protecting and serving the community.
