AdventHealth Ocala GME program leaders and current residents recently celebrated match day and the new class of residents who will be joining their team to further their education and expand care for the community
OCALA, Fla. — Eight new physicians are beginning the next step of their family medicine training at AdventHealth Ocala, supporting and expanding care for patients and families across the community.
Match Day, which was Friday, March 20, is where residents across the country found out where they are going to continue the next chapter of their medical careers.
Before Match Day, these physicians apply and interview at residency programs in the specialty of their choice and rank their preferences. The residency programs also rank their preferences of these physicians. The rank lists are then matched through the National Residency Match Program, (NRMP). The NRMP said more than 41,000 positions were filled by post-graduate year-1 and post-graduate year-2 applicants across the nation, this year.
AdventHealth Ocala has filled all eight spots for its Family Medicine program. This is the program’s second year of being in place. GME program leaders and current residents recently celebrated the new class of residents who will be joining their team.
“Graduate Medical Education represents the stage where physicians refine their skills and prepare to practice independently within their chosen discipline,” said Dr. Klive Forde, family medicine residency program director at AdventHealth Ocala. “At AdventHealth, our commitment extends beyond clinical excellence to developing doctors who lead with empathy and provide care that addresses the full range of patient needs. We are elated to welcome this new class of residents and to help shape them into thoughtful, highly skilled physician leaders who will make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.”
AdventHealth Ocala’s innovative Clinic First residency curriculum emphasizes the importance of the family medicine outpatient practice as the primary site for clinical training. Residents will have the opportunity to work closely with attending physicians across all specialties and immerse themselves in AdventHealth’s whole-person care model, with residents guiding patients toward total wellness, mind, body, and spirit.
“We are honored to introduce these exceptional physicians to the AdventHealth Ocala team,” said Erika Skula, president and CEO of AdventHealth Ocala. “Our caregivers are deeply invested in walking alongside them as they grow into the next generation of medical leaders, and we value the role they will play in strengthening whole-person care and service for our community.”
