The outdoor walking path was created to offer a peaceful space for movement, prayer and reflection for anyone navigating a difficult day at the hospital or seeking a moment of wellness
SEBRING, Fla. — Patients, caregivers and community members now have a new place to find comfort and calm on the AdventHealth Sebring campus with the opening of a new wellness trail. The outdoor walking path, dedicated today during a ribbon‑cutting hosted by AdventHealth Sebring Foundation, was created to offer a peaceful space for movement, prayer and reflection for anyone navigating a difficult day at the hospital or seeking a moment of wellness.
Designed with whole‑person care in mind, the trail gives individuals and families a chance to step outside, breathe deeply and reconnect with nature, whether they are supporting a loved one, taking a break from treatment or simply looking for a quiet moment of clarity.
The wellness trail spans about a quarter of a mile and is five feet wide to support accessibility for all. The landscaped path, in the shape of a cancer ribbon, includes shaded areas, benches and trees, creating a quiet retreat for those seeking moments of rest and renewal during their time on campus.
The project was made possible through generous gifts from AdventHealth team members and community members including longtime AdventHealth supporters Lisa and Bill Jarrett. The inspiration for the trail came from Lisa’s personal experience during her family’s cancer journey, including supporting her sister Jackie, her brother‑in‑law and her mother. During long days spent in hospitals, she often wished she had access to a simple outdoor place to have the opportunity to take a breath, walk and pray.
“We are incredibly grateful to all the donors who made this trail a reality and especially to Lisa and Bill Jarrett for their compassion, vision and generosity,” said Jason Dunkel, president and CEO of AdventHealth Sebring. “This trail represents more than a walking path. It is a gift of hope and healing for anyone who steps onto it. Our community will benefit for decades to come because of the thoughtfulness and commitment to whole‑person care shown by our gracious donors.”
Reflecting the spirit of comfort and hope this trail was created to offer, Lisa Jarrett shared the following devotional message she said spoke volumes to her:
“May God inspire you to achieve a goal that He puts in your heart. May He stir up faith as you step up and step out. May He give you fresh conviction and discipline to say no to lesser things so you can say yes to His best plan for you. May the wind of the Holy Spirit fill your daily and take you to a new, inspired place.”
The trail was constructed by Edgewood Landscape, with stewardship and coordination provided by the AdventHealth Sebring Foundation.
The AdventHealth Sebring Wellness Trail is now open for use by patients, caregivers, employees, visitors and all community members.
