New Physician of the Quarter

PALM COAST, Fla., October 18, 2017 Florida Hospital Flagler has named interventional cardiologist Dr. Thomas Joiner as physician of the quarter.

Dr. Joiner is incredibly kind and compassionate. He is humble and clearly committed to the service of others, a colleague said in his nomination. He is well respected, not only in the hospital environment, but in our community as well.

Dr. Joiner consistently strives to improve the cardiac care provided at Florida Hospital Flagler and performs more cardiac interventions than any other physician, another wrote in a nomination. He participates in all efforts to improve processes and ensure interventions are timely and appropriate.

As an interventional cardiologist, Joiner treats narrowed coronary arteries caused by cholesterol buildup which can lead to angina or to heart attacks.

He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Joiner earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed an internal medicine residency at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and a cardiology fellowship at University of Kentucky in Lexington.

He joined the medical staff of Florida Hospital Flagler in 2013.
