Rooted in AdventHealth’s faith-based mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ, the new emergency room brings trusted, compassionate care closer to where people live, work and vacation. The facility helps meet the growing need for timely emergency services in an area experiencing continued residential growth while welcoming millions of visitors each year.

“This emergency room represents what can happen when we listen closely to the needs of a growing community,” said Sheila Rankin, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Park, who also oversees the new ER. “We are called to be present for people in their most vulnerable moments. That includes caring for our neighbors and for those who may experience an unexpected emergency while visiting our community. The AdventHealth Sand Lake ER allows us to extend compassionate, whole-person care to anyone who needs it, close to where life happens.”

Located on the corner of West Sand Lake Road and Chancellor Drive, and just three miles from the Universal Epic Universe theme park, the approximately 13,700-square-foot facility is designed to provide fast, high-quality emergency care in a calm and supportive environment. The AdventHealth Sand Lake ER includes:

  • 12 private patient rooms
  • Respiratory therapy services
  • Advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT scans, X-ray and ultrasound
  • On-site full-service laboratory
  • On-site pharmacy for patient convenience

The ER is staffed by a comprehensive clinical team, including board-certified emergency physicians and highly trained emergency nurses, supported by the broader AdventHealth network of specialists.

“Emergency care goes beyond medical expertise. It’s about providing reassurance, compassion and skilled care in moments of uncertainty,” said Dr. Mitchell Maulfair, director of emergency services for AdventHealth Winter Park. “Every second counts, and our team is honored to bring that level of care to this community through the AdventHealth Sand Lake ER.”

In addition to expanding access to emergency services, the AdventHealth Sand Lake ER brings meaningful economic benefits to south Orange County, including approximately 75 clinical and support jobs, while strengthening partnerships with local first responders and community organizations.
