DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., June 24, 2016 Board-certified neurosurgeon Dr. Gregory J. Velat has joined the Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners medical staff at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center.
Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners is the employed group of physicians for the Florida Hospital East Florida Region, which encompasses the six Florida Hospitals within Volusia and Flagler counties. Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners consists of more than 150 physicians, including both primary care physicians and specialists, and enjoys a mutual partnership with Florida Hospital based upon the close alignment of the hospital's mission and values.
Velat has 13 years of experience and comes to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center from Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Myers, Fla.
He received his medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he also completed his residency and a fellowship in neurointerventional surgery. He went on to complete an additional fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz.
Advancing the field of neurosurgery is a priority to Velat and as such, he is currently involved in three intracranial research studies.
In his new practice at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Velat will focus on lower-back surgery, spinal decompression and fusion, surgery for peripheral nerve disorders, spinal canal tumors, carpal tunnel surgery, and more.
