NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach has named Nathanael Torres as its new chief financial officer, effective Feb. 8.
Torres brings extensive experience in healthcare finance and hospital operations. He most recently served as finance director at Kettering Health, working closely with senior leaders across the organization to strengthen financial performance and support growth initiatives.
A strategic, mission-driven leader, Torres has built his career around responsible stewardship and aligning financial resources with patient care priorities. In his new role, he will oversee the hospital’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and performance management.
“Nathanael brings both strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of how financial decisions affect patient care and our teams,” said Dr. Dennis Hernandez, president and CEO of AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach. “He leads with integrity and transparency, and I’m confident his leadership will help position our hospital for continued stability and growth as we serve our community.”
Throughout his career, Torres has translated financial data into meaningful insights that support high-quality care and long-term sustainability. He is known for fostering collaboration across teams and developing strong finance professionals.
During his tenure at Kettering Health, Torres played a key role in guiding a financial turnaround and supporting operational growth. His work included aligning staffing models with patient volumes and strengthening financial reporting to improve decision-making.
“I’m honored to join AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach and to serve an organization so deeply committed to whole-person care,” said Torres. “As CFO, my focus will be on thoughtful stewardship and ensuring our caregivers and leaders have the resources needed to care for our community today and in the future.”
Torres holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Union Adventist University, graduating magna cum laude. He is actively involved in service, including leadership within his faith community and participation in international mission work.
