AdventHealth has named Michael Mewhirter as CEO of AdventHealth Celebration, effective Feb. 2, following Amanda Maggard’s appointment as chief people officer for the health system’s Multi-State Division. Mewhirter will continue to report to Doug Harcombe, who leads the Central Florida Division South Market.
“Michael’s return to AdventHealth Celebration marks a meaningful homecoming,” Harcombe said. “Having previously served on the campus, he brings both a deep understanding of our faith-based mission and a strong connection to the communities and families we serve across Osceola County and the South Market. His commitment to whole-person care will continue to strengthen how we serve those who place their trust in us.”
Mewhirter previously served as vice president and chief operating officer of AdventHealth Celebration before accepting his most recent role as AdventHealth East Orlando CEO. During his tenure as COO, AdventHealth Celebration expanded to include a new eight-story patient tower, and broke ground on the offsite AdventHealth Meadow Woods ER. Mewhirter’s previous experience includes a variety of leadership roles at Kettering Health in Ohio, as well as AdventHealth Waterman and AdventHealth North Pinellas.
“It’s an honor to return to AdventHealth Celebration and serve alongside such a dedicated team,” he said. “I’m also deeply grateful for the time I’ve spent with the exceptional caregivers and leaders at AdventHealth East Orlando, whose passion and commitment to our mission have had a lasting impact on me. As I step into this new role, I look forward to supporting our teams and working with our physicians and community partners to continue advancing whole-person care for the families who trust us every day.”
Mewhirter earned a Master of Business Administration from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Union Adventist University. He is a member of the Advisory Board Fellowship.
